How Loadrite Smart Scales Help Padstow Harbour Reinvest in the Community

2/10/2025

At Padstow Harbour in Cornwall, keeping the port safe and clear is a never-ending task. As a non-profit port authority, every decision the Padstow Harbour Commissioners make has one goal in mind: to protect the harbour while creating value for the local community.
When material is dredged from the harbour, it’s not simply discarded. This antiseptic-rich byproduct is sold across the UK, generating a vital revenue stream that is reinvested directly back into maintaining and improving the harbour.
But as operations expanded, new challenges emerged. The team needed a way to ensure accurate weighing on site, faster reporting, and a more efficient invoicing process. That’s where Halomec stepped in.
We recommended the Loadrite L3180 SmartScale, paired with the LP950 Printer and InsightHQ cloud reporting. Together, these solutions have transformed harbour operations by enabling:
  • Accurate weighing on every load – even on uneven terrain
  • Real-time data access – for greater visibility across teams
  • Streamlined invoicing – reducing days of admin work to just hours
The result? Increased productivity, improved accuracy, and more profits flowing back into protecting the harbour for future generations.

Loadrite Launches “Loadrite Nation” — EMR Among the First UK Operators Seeing Measurable Gains

30/7/2025

Picture
Loadrite has launched Loadrite Nation — a global platform showcasing how real-time production data is transforming the way sites move material and manage performance. As a proud UK distributor, Halomec is excited to be part of this movement, helping connect operators with technology that delivers immediate, measurable gains.

What Is Loadrite Nation?
Loadrite Nation is Loadrite’s new content platform designed to spotlight real-world stories from operators using machine-connected data to improve site productivity. It brings together practical examples, tech highlights, and frontline insights from industries like aggregates, construction, and recycling. The goal? Help businesses see what’s possible when they stop guessing and start measuring.

One of the first UK-based companies featured in Loadrite Nation is EMR (European Metal Recycling) — a global leader in sustainable recycling with a footprint that spans continents and a throughput of over 10 million tonnes of metal per year. EMR Sets the Pace for Smarter Metal Recycling. EMR has grown from a single UK facility into a multinational operation, recycling everything from car parts and boilers to tin roofs and beverage cans. If it’s metal, EMR recycles it. To keep operations running efficiently at this scale, EMR’s Technical Department sought a way to more accurately monitor production and reduce unplanned downtime. In metal recycling, profitability hinges on both yield and material value. Precision matters, so they turned to Halomec for help.

The solution
The deployment of the Loadrite C2880 Conveyor Belt Scale at one of EMR’s six UK recycling sites. Designed to deliver accurate, real-time output data with cloud-based access, the C2880 proved to be not only reliable and user-friendly, but also a powerful tool for tracking production remotely and optimizing workflow. Loadrite’s InsightHQ advanced reporting made it easy for EMR’s teams to monitor performance and identify bottlenecks — exactly the kind of visibility Loadrite Nation is all about.

Halomec's role: Connecting UK Sites to Loadrite
As an authorised Loadrite distributor, Halomec supports operators across the UK with the supply, installation, and ongoing support of Loadrite’s industry-leading onboard and conveyor scale systems.
From productivity tracking to performance insights, our team ensures your Loadrite system delivers the results you need — no matter the scale of your operation.

Blackwood Plant Hire Ltd become the first UK business to sign up to the Hiboo Platform

19/5/2025

Blackwood Plant Hire Limited takes its fleet digital with Hiboo and UK dealer Halomec Ltd.

Journalist, Peter Haddock caught up with MD Paul McCormack at Bauma to find out how they are now using the Hiboo platform to monitor its entire fleet of over 500 units, and just a few months in, it has transformed the business.

Paul: “We’ve now got one login for every single machine in our fleet. It saves so much time for our service team, loader drivers, transport manager, hire desk and the whole team, including me. Gone are the days of juggling 10 different platforms. Now, the team can access real-time data showing the GPS location of equipment, fuel burn, fault codes, idle time, and utilisation, all in one place. Our service engineers can now map out where they need to go, planning their day in the right order. That saves fuel, time, and wasted journeys.”

For Paul, this solution isn’t just about efficiency. It’s about trust, as his team now shares live access with customers, showing both their own and hired in assets working on the same site as they can load up both.

Paul: “It’s definitely brought us closer together with our customers. If we can see a machine sitting and doing nothing for three days, we can ask our customers if they still need it. We’re not just trying to keep them hiring from us, we’re trying to help them run their projects more efficiently. The biggest things for us are machine security, limiting wasted time, and giving customers an open view of what our fleet’s doing for them. And if we can get that right, it means we can deliver a faster service, have smarter fleet deployment, and better customer outcomes, all from one platform.”

It’s great to see how digitalisation is working on the ground and how it is supporting the Blackwood Plant Hire team. And we are looking forward to seeing just what the impact is for the industry in the future.

Halomec is expanding its range of services by integrating Hiboo’s fleet management platform into its product and service portfolio. This enables users, notably those renting out equipment, to gather data from equipment on to a single web-based dashboard, whatever the manufacturer or type. By adapting itself to the specific needs of the British market, mainly driven by plant hire, Hiboo is helping to optimise the productivity and energy efficiency of offhighway fleets, and therefore enabling both rental and their client to make more agile and efficient use of equipment.

Thanks to Hiboo, plant operators can access key indicators of utilization and efficiency, such as idling, fuel consumption, fault conditions and real CO2 emissions, where reductions as high as 20% have been demonstrated. Halomec has considerable expertise in the field of heavy industry, mobile plant and harsh environments, which positions the company uniquely to deploy Hiboo solutions.

This strategic partnership with Halomec also means that the Hiboo platform will be optimised to meet the distinct needs of the UK and Irish markets. Although plateaued at present, the off-highway sector in the United Kingdom and Ireland is forecast for accelerated growth, which will be driven by the urgent need for investment in transport infrastructures, energy and housing projects.

Halomec Ltd has been chosen to be the authorised distributor for Loadrite Smart Haul in the UK.

The Gloucestershire-based company, dedicated to helping business managers to improve the productivity of their mobile plant and equipment, has enjoyed an excellent working relationship with Loadrite for some time, as UK resellers of their Loadrite system. With their understanding of heavy industry, mobile equipment and harsh environments, Halomec was the natural choice for Smart Haul, the automated load and haul tracking system which can improve load and haul, reduce cycle times and boost tons per hour.

The Smart Haul system is almost completely automated and requires very little interaction from excavator operators. It can be fitted to any make or model of excavator, haul truck or ADT. The information it provides will help you detect delays, under-usage and bottlenecks. By combining payload data from the excavator scale with haul fleet monitoring and cloud reporting, it will also help to identify opportunities for additional productivity.

With specialist industry knowledge and an in-depth understanding of customers' needs, Halomec strives to provide and implement effective solutions for your business. Halomec’s team of regional engineers take time to understand your particular operation, getting to know your staff and how they operate, to deliver what you need for your business. They are trained to configure, install and service systems, precisely and safely.

As Tim Bannister, Product Manager at Loadrite, says: "Tracking progress in real-time, including material movement from dig to dump, enables hour-to-hour and day-to-day gains."

If your aggregate, quarrying, mining or construction business could be helped by moving material with greater speed and efficiency, get in touch with Halomec for a demonstration of the Smart Haul system to see what it can do for you on 01453 766444 or at [email protected]. Loadrite e-ticket provides alternative to a fixed weighbridge

9/7/2017

Picture
The Loadrite L2180 wheel loader scale now provides bulk materials suppliers with a genuine alternative to fixed weighbridges.

The L2180 has been approved in the UK for a number of years as a leagal for trade scale, but now with the advent of e-ticketing, provides a practical alternative to a fixed weighbridge.

The obvious applications are in the aggregates supply sector, where managers are seeking to eliminate the costs of fixed weighbridges and reduce turnaround times for customers.

Picture
So How Does It Work?

The e~ticket is a cloud based ticketing system based on Loadrite's InsightHQ reporting platform.

Core information including customer details, vehicle registrations, material types (and up to 5 other data types) can be programmed into Insight HQ, via an internet connected PC. This data gets automatically populated to the wheel loader scale for the operator to select from.

Lorries are loaded with the relevant data selected and upon completion an electronic ticket is created on the system. This ticket can then be automatically emailed to any number of recipients based on the selected data fields.

Not only does the administrative operations of both customer and supplier have instant information on loading but construction site managers can have real-time information of impending deliveries to help better manage their operations.
